We are counting down the days until May when our favourite authors hit Sydney for the Sydney Writers Festival. The program is absolutely brimming with amazing authors so here’s a list of the top 10 we won’t be missing!

  

 

Thursday 23 May – 10am

Chris Hammer: The Seven

Whether you’ve read his books or watch the Scrubland’s TV series on Stan, this is a chance to meet the mastermind behind these page-turning stories.

 

Thursday 23 May – 1pm

First Fictions

Bri Lee, Louise Milligan and Jennifer Croft talk about writing their first novels after forging illustrious careers in other genres and forms.

 

Thursday 23 May – 3pm

Good Different

Writer and activist Hannah Diviney (I’ll Let Myself In) and journalist Matilda Boseley (The Year I Met My Brain) talk about breaking down doors, claiming space and finding your wheels.

Christos Tsiolkas: the In-Between

Christos Tsiolkas is in conversation with Ailsa Piper about his new, and quite different book, The In-Between.

Charlotte Wood: Stone Yard Devotional

Bryan Brown: The Drowning

Having graced our screens in Australia and abroad for decades, Byran Brown returns home to Bankstown to discuss the secrets of his second crime novel The Drowning.

Creating a Monster

Masters of the genre, Vanessa Len (Only a Monster), C.S. Pacat (Dark Rise) and Sarah Street (A Curse of Salt) explore how they have brought their creations monster to life.

Sad girl? Bad girl? Mad girl?

Debut novelists Madeleine Gray (Green Dot), Nadine J. Cohen (Everyone and Everything) and Jessie Stephens (Something Bad is Going to Happen) talk about the ‘sad girl’ phenomenon taking the publishing industry by storm.

Michael Connelly’s Life of Crime

Finally, Michael Connelly is back in Australia, and we can’t wait to hear him talk about his latest book Resurrection Walk!

 

Sunday 26 May – 3.30pm

Life and Laughter

Wendy Harmer, Richard Glover and William McInnes share stories from their colourful lives and work.
